A ride called Futurama welcomes viewers to a speculative future shaped by technology and a growing world population. Images and models envision resources coming from outer space, Antarctica, the ocean floor, equatorial forests, mountains, and deserts, while new highways, farms, industries, and cities spread across transformed landscapes. This vision leads to the future home and especially its kitchen.

A woman then moves through theatrical, internationally themed appliance displays, where she examines fast-cooking ovens, a portable refrigerated cart, refrigerators, a dishwasher, and a laundry center. She admires their capacity, simple controls, easy cleaning, and convenience while sampling food and imagining casual family entertaining. Back in her own kitchen, her family asks about her return visit to the World's Fair, and she describes everything she saw as “out of this world.”
