Beginning with an hourglass and a montage of household appliances, this industrial film presents DuPont’s claim that its products make life more livable before tracing rayon manufacture. Cellulose is steeped in sodium hydroxide, converted into xanthate, dissolved into spinning solution, and extruded through spinnerets into dry filaments. Microscopic inspection and fabric applications complete the presentation.
