Door to Heaven, The

194110 min 24 sec48 shots

Opening and closing hymns frame a Christian lesson that compares ordinary doors with an unseen “door to heaven.” The film identifies Jesus Christ as the only door and says that salvation cannot be gained through good works, personal character, church membership, or self-righteousness. Biblical quotations and comparisons with homes, museums, and shelter from a storm explain that entry is free to believers because Christ paid the price with his blood. Simple sets and labeled props show a man confronting doors and carrying burdens such as unbelief, money, and anxiety.

Anyone seeking heaven must leave behind sin, unbelief, riches, fame, suffering, sorrow, disappointment, and worry, while encouraging other people to accept Jesus. The film repeatedly urges viewers to accept Jesus as their savior without delay, warning that God will someday close the door. An open doorway against a field of stars accompanies the final invitation, followed by a hymn about the saints and their heavenly home.
