This 1960 film documents Consumers Union’s independent product-testing program for Consumer Reports. It follows the selection, anonymous purchase, laboratory evaluation, and reporting of consumer goods—including stereo phonographs, automobiles, appliances, televisions, food, shoes, cosmetics, and toys—at the nonprofit organization’s Mount Vernon, New York, headquarters and other test sites.
