This 1969 NASA film follows Apollo 11 from launch-day breakfast through the crew’s departure from Kennedy Space Center, the transfer-van trip to Launch Complex 39, and preparations to enter the spacecraft. Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Buzz Aldrin ride to the pad, take an elevator to the spacecraft level, cross the access arm, and board while support crews complete checks and close the hatch.

Launch control reports a leaking valve in ground equipment used to replenish liquid hydrogen in the Saturn V’s third stage; technicians tighten the valve, then bypass it while maintaining the fuel supply. As controllers test safety, guidance, communications, and propulsion systems, views of the rocket, access structure, and control room accompany status reports leading into the final countdown. Apollo 11 lifts off at 9:32 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time, and the closing minutes track the rocket through its initial climb, first-stage shutdown, staging, second-stage ignition, and separation of the launch escape tower.
