Marking the 30th anniversary of Apollo 11, the film combines mission footage with later interviews featuring Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, and Michael Collins. Archival scenes show the astronauts preparing for flight, the Saturn V launching, the spacecraft traveling to the Moon, and the lunar module Eagle landing. Armstrong and Aldrin walk on the surface, examine the powdery ground, conduct experiments, raise the American flag, and speak with the president, while Collins remains in lunar orbit aboard Columbia.

The astronauts recall the risks of the mission, their impressions of the Moon, and the small, fragile appearance of Earth from space. They describe Apollo 11 as the work of far more than three people and discuss how lunar exploration could support future journeys to Mars and beyond. The final portion assembles additional mission material, including spacecraft interiors, launch preparations, mission control, countdowns, the landing, Armstrong’s first step, and activity beside the lunar module.
