Views of St. Louis neighborhoods introduce residents whose needs may remain unseen, including a girl with pneumonia, an older woman living alone, families requiring support, young people without organized activities, and people affected by disaster. The film explains that one person cannot identify and address every hardship across a large city.

Donations to the United Fund are said to support 122 agencies that provide medical care, recreation programs, assistance for children and families, care for older people, and Red Cross emergency services. Scenes of children eating, workers receiving training, a classroom, hospital beds, and a destructive storm represent the services and emergencies described. The closing appeal asks viewers to pledge at least one hour’s pay each month to the United Fund.
